CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — For the first time in 30 years, Ohio’s own Arthur Treacher’s is opening a new location.

The beloved restaurant will serve up fish and chips, chicken, and hush puppies in Cleveland Heights , where a former Arthur Treacher’s once operated, across from the high school.

“That store was always such a nostalgic location for the brand and the business, and it just came up in conversation with ownership and the opportunity was available for us,” said Marketing Director Christian Burden.

The restaurant at 13216 Cedar Rd. has a target opening date of Dec. 1, 2024. Burden says the ownership group is excited to bring the fast food seafood option back to Cleveland Heights.

“We saw this as an opportunity to come back to an established place that is recognized and is gonna do great and that the people wanted,” said Burden.

At one time, there were more than 800 Arthur Treacher’s locations across the country. Now, only two remain: in Cuyahoga Falls and Garfield Heights . Burden said people have been asking for more.

“The Cleveland area-whether it’s the west side or east side-they have specific restaurants they love, they have their specialties they love,” said Burden. “It’s loved, and that’s why they were so successful back in the day.

The new location is expected to create between 10 and 20 jobs, however Burden said the growth won’t stop here, adding that ownership wants to open up three more stores in the next year, and even more in the future.

“This ownership group, this current structure, we are in growth mode. Nothing will stop us, we are committed,” said Burden.

He added that the energy and excitement is building as the opening draws near, and it’s already being felt across the community.

“We are growing back into the once booming business it was, and contrary to belief, we are very successful and busy at all of our locations.”

Burden assures customers will get “great food, great service, and always great smiles for our guests, new and old.”

And what’s an opening without some pomp and circumstance? Burden said a grand opening celebration is already in the works for the Cleveland Heights location.
