    FORECAST: What to expect on a busy Friday night

    (WJW) — It’s going to be a toasty night for high school football! Temperatures will be in the upper 70s at kickoff and still in the lower 70s for the final down.

    The weather also looks great for the Billy Joel/Rod Stewart Concert at Huntington Bank Field and the Guards game.

    Friday night will be clear and mild, with lows in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. The wind will be out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

    The last full weekend this summer will be very summer-like. It’s going to be sunny and warm, especially for the middle of September. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid 80s. Keep in mind, the average high on September 14 in Cleveland is 77 degrees.

    This stretch of 80 degree plus weather will continue through next week. The last time we had stretch this long in September was 7 years ago.

    Overall, next week looks dry too. A few rain showers will be possible midweek as moisture from the remnants of tropical system could impact the area.

    There has not been much rain across Northeast over the last 30 days. Here’s a closer look at the numbers for Cleveland, Akron-Canton, and Mansfield:

    The latest drought monitor shows the recent dry spell has allowed abnormally dry conditions develop across much of Northeast Ohio. The drought conditions range from moderate to extreme across Tuscarawas and Carroll County. Severe to exceptional drought conditions have developed across southeastern Ohio.

    Several southeastern Oho counties have been declared a natural disaster area because of the exceptional drought conditions. There have been 6 other times that an exceptional drought lasting this long has happened in that area.

    With a lack of rain in the 8-Day Forecast, the dry conditions will worsen over the next week or so.
