(WJW) — More sunshine today. Humidity still remains ok and temperatures are about 7 degrees above average. It should still be a beautiful day for all of the outdoor activities for downtown Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

Looking nice and comfortable for our Friday night football games. Temperatures falling through the 70’s under a mainly clear sky. NO rain to contend with this week!

Repeat… Sunny, very warm and dry. BIG difference from windy, cool and wet like last weekend! Summer hanging on this weekend. Enjoy!

Interesting enough, the average high temps so far this month are running slightly BELOW NORMAL due to the cool period last week. The first 13 days rank 70th warmest! It seems warmer due to Recency Bias . In other words, the most recent events — in this case the last few days of warmth — gives us the perception that the warmth has been around longer than in reality.

It’s day 3 with temps above 80° and we have several more days to go! Last time we had a warm stretch this long in September was 7 years ago.

There has not been much rain over the last month. Since August 15th, only 2.56″ of rain has officially fallen in Cleveland. Half of this was last Friday.

The latest drought monitor shows that severe to exceptional drought conditions have spread across southeastern Ohio. Now parts of Tuscarawas and Carroll County are in that classification and moderate drought conditions have crept into our southern and western counties. WE NEED RAIN!

Several of our southeastern Oho counties have been declared a natural disaster area because of the exceptional drought conditions. There have been 6 other times that an exceptional drought lasing this long has happened in that area.

By next week, moisture from the southeast will try to stream northwest into parts of Ohio. Best chance of rain will be middle of next week albeit a small one.

Not much, but any little bit helps. As of right now it looks like less a 0.1″.
