NAVARRE , Ohio (WJW) – Law enforcement will be looking for impaired drivers in Northeast Ohio tonight.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office has revealed two planned OVI checkpoints for Saturday, Sept. 14.

According to a Saturday morning press release, both checkpoints will take place at two locations in Navarre, Bethlehem Township. Motorists traveling through the areas can expect officers to stop vehicles and check for signs of alcohol and drug impairment.

“We intend to inform the public that officers will be vigilant in detecting and
apprehending impaired drivers. We want to strongly recommend to those who will be
consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements,” read the release.

Time and location details are below:

The first roadside checkpoint will begin at 6 p.m. in the 8000 block of Hudson Drive SW.

The second checkpoint will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the 1250 block of Main Street N.

In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which includes public notification.

“If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a sober driver or make other travel arrangements before your drink,” read a release. “Don’t let another life me lost to the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.”

I've never gone through a sobriety check point before. I don't drink and have been sober 11 yrs now. I have a genetic thing with the left eye pupil. My Dad has the same thing. My pupil dilates alot on one eye only and it's extremely noticeable. If they shine a light in my eyes they ate going to think 🤔 what?
