GO INSIDE: One of America’s ‘most haunted’ homes is under new ownership

(WJW) – Cleveland Ghosts is one of Northeast Ohio’s most popular tour operators, especially this time of year, as they take thrill seekers inside some of Cleveland’s most haunted places.

Now the company behind Cleveland Ghosts has announced the acquisition of one of America’s ‘most haunted houses’ where, according to a press release, more than 100 years ago, eight people, including six children, were brutally murdered in their sleep.

Organizers say the case remains unsolved.

Unfortunately for local ghost hunters, they’ll have to travel outside of Ohio to experience the “unexplained sounds, movements of objects, and even physical touch” described in the release by the home’s longtime manager.

The house is known as the “ Villisca Axe Murder House ” and it’s located in the quiet town of Villisca, Iowa.

According to US Ghost Adventures, the house was first restored in the 1990s, allowing visitors to see it as it was on the night of the tragic event.

US Ghost Adventures invites guests to tour the home or even stay the night.

“The house seems to have a life of its own. From my own experiences and what guests have shared over the years, there are unexplained sounds, movements of objects, and even physical touch that occurs to those who dare stay the night,” said Johnny Houser, who has managed the Villisca Axe Murder House for two decades.
