PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A local sheriff is making headlines after a controversial social media post .

In a post on Saturday from the sheriff’s Facebook page, Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski appeared to encourage people to write down the addresses of supporters for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

“Write down all the addresses of the people who had her signs in their yards!” a post on Bruce Zuchowski’s Facebook page reads .

    It continues.

“Sooo…when the Illegal human ‘Locust’ (which she supports!) Need places to live…We’ll already have the addresses of the their New families…who supported their arrival!”

The sheriff limited comments to the post .

FOX 8 reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment.

The sheriff’s office declined an interview for this story, but they did clarify to Fox 8 that this came from the Sheriff’s campaign account on Facebook.

The post also included several screenshots of FOX News headlines and referred to Harris as a “hyena.”

Fox 8 did get an interview with current Republican Portage County Commissioner Tony Badalamenti.

“I just thought it was pretty ignorant. Once it goes on Facebook, nobody really cares where it came from. If it’s you, it’s you,” Badalamenti said.

Badalamenti isn’t just using words to express his frustration—he’s also taking personal action to prove a point.

He resigned as the Republican representative of the Portage County Central Committee, saying, “Everyone has their own thought process on how they should represent their party. I disagree with that behavior.”

Also speaking with us was former U.S. Marine and current Portage County resident William Lane, who expressed disappointment on a personal level.

“I took an oath to the Constitution to protect all of those foreign and domestic. That had nothing to do with party. It’s the same oath that Bruce (Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski) took.”

Zuchowski has been sheriff in Portage County since 2021 and has served in Ohio law enforcement for nearly three decades.
