    Why you might hear explosions this week

    NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WJW) – It may get extra noisy this week in Northeast Ohio.

    Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center in Newton Falls is planning explosives training.

    New beverage illegal in Indiana, selling in NE Ohio

    Explosives will be used during training by the Ohio National Guard’s 147 th Regiment on Wednesday. September 18, and Thursday, September 19.

    “Explosives training is an important part of military readiness for Army engineers and simulates realistic battle conditions,” the Ohio National Guard wrote in a press release.

    The sounds from the explosions may be heard farther away than usual, according to the military.

    Training season runs through the month of September.

    Camp James A. Garfield has various small arms and machine gun weapons ranges for training.
