Report: Suspects fired gun after minor car crash, police investigate

EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) — Euclid Police body camera video released to the Fox 8 I-Team shows a victim telling police that shots were fired following a minor crash Sunday night.

The victim said the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. when he was driving on East 260th Street and North Lakeland Boulevard.

“After the crash happened, the victim said the driver in the car that hit him started to back up and he followed him to get a license plate,” Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer said. “When he was trying to get the license plate, he said someone in the suspect’s car put a gun out the window and fired shots.”

The victim drove to the police station to report the incident. Police immediately started looking for the vehicle.

A license plate reader in the city spotted the vehicle and officers attempted to stop the car. Officers tried to stop the car, but the suspects took off and police pursued the vehicle.

The suspects crashed in Cleveland. They got out of the car and took off running.

Police were not able to locate them.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made but detectives have identified a person of interest in the case.
