OVI checkpoint tonight: Here’s where

PARMA, Ohio (WJW) – Police in Parma will be looking for impaired drivers Thursday night.

The department announced that its officers would hold a sobriety checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Officers will be set up around 7200 State Road.

According to officials, last year in Ohio, there were more 11,000 OVI-related crashes that resulted in 725 people being killed.

OVI checkpoints are funded by federal grant money.

In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which includes public notification.
