Minerva Village mayor suddenly passes away

MINERVA, Ohio (WJW) – Minerva Village Mayor Timothy Tarbet suddenly passed away Sunday morning.

“It was very unexpected and we are in shock,” a post to the mayor’s Facebook page said.

According to Tarbet’s obituary , he was 71 years old and died at Aultman Hospital.

Tarbet is the current mayor of Minerva and has served many roles within the community.

According to his obituary, he is also a United States Army Veteran and served on the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, retiring as a captain.

“Tim loved this little village of Minerva and he dedicated many hours to making it a better place.  The only thing he was more passionate about was his family,” the Facebook post said. “If you ever talked to him, you know the grandchildren were the topic of conversation.”

Tarbet is survived by his wife, Nancy, two daughters and four grandchildren.

“Please say a prayer as we navigate through the sudden, unexpected twist.  He will be missed by many,” the Facebook post concluded.

It is unclear at this time what led to Tarbet’s death.
