(WJW) – Giant Eagle customers will soon be able to save little money on produce.

The grocery store chain is introducing a “New Low Price” initiative starting on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The initiative will save customers an average price reduction of 20% across more than 200 of the “most popular produce items,” according to a Giant Eagle press release.

This will save Giant Eagle and Market District an estimated $25 million annually, according to the release.

“Today’s announcement reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering quality, variety, and value to our customers and communities,” Brian Ferrier, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Giant Eagle, said in the release. “By significantly reducing prices on more than 200 produce items, we’re not just offering savings – we’re investing in everyday value. In these challenging economic times, we’re proud to make the fresh, quality produce we stock daily more affordable and we believe these savings will make a real difference in people’s lives.”

According to the release, as industry factors may cause shelf prices to rise in the future, Giant Eagle’s lower prices will remain.

Their produce is really bad, and their meats are bad also make sure if you buy any steaks or meats to smell the package, I have purchased many meats that were spoiled that they sell at reduced prices out of date sales.
