(WJW) – The wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee needed to act fast to rescue their small dachshund that was snatched by a coyote in their California backyard.

Brittany Furlan shared Ring doorbell camera from the incident on Instagram on Tuesday. The video showed the coyote run across the property and grab the pup, named Neena, who was outside by the swimming pool.

As seen in the video , Furlan chased the animal to rescue their dachshund, with Lee coming outside soon after.

“Neena is safe,” Furlan said in the caption. “I climbed up the wall and grabbed her out of its mouth. Thank God she’s a little bit fat because he couldn’t make it over the wall with her.”

Furlan said their other dog, Teenie, who was seen running away in the video, would likely not have survived the encounter.

The 38-year-old social media personality said the attack happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday. She warned others to be careful letting their dogs outside in the area.

“I’ve lived here for four years and I’ve never seen one coyote and then today this happened,” she said. “They are getting more brazen and hungry. Please be safe. I’m not letting the dogs out anymore. This is ridiculous. Hug your babies extra tight.”

Lee, 61, re-shared the video on his social media as well.

Furlan later posted an Instagram story of Neena eating Halloween-themed treats, with the caption reading, “Thank you for all the love. We are OK. Thank God.”

To avoid encounters with coyotes, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife encourages residents not to leave their pets outside unsupervised, keep them leashed on walks and to remove any attractants like trash or pet food. Learn more about how to handle coyotes here.
