What I-Team found in citizen’s complaint on Cleveland mayor’s crash

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team just obtained the citizen’s complaint on the crash of a police SUV carrying the mayor of Cleveland.

This week, we revealed that complaint is sparking another investigation.

We now see someone filed an anonymous complaint demanding the office of professional standards investigate while calling out the mayor and police.

The complaint said, in part, “I also demand that you look at the police report. They have a history of not filing and lying on them. I do not trust the mayor or CDP (Cleveland Division of Police).”

Back in June, a police officer driving the mayor put on emergency lights, ran a red light and caused a crash. After all this time, there’s still no ticket and no internal discipline.

Now, that investigation has been put on hold as professional standards looks into the citizen’s complaint.

The other driver involved in the crash told police he had the green light, and a witness backed up what he said.

The head of the office of professional standards has said he does not think it will take long to consider the citizen’s complaint. That also could lead to discipline.
