Maria’s Field of Hope in Avon in peak bloom

AVON, Ohio (WJW) – Sunflowers are in peak bloom at Maria’s Field of Hope in Avon .

The Prayers From Maria Children’s Cancer Foundation has 18 acres alongside Interstate 90.

The field is free to visitors. It honors the memory of Maria McNamara .

Maria McNamara died on July 14, 2007, at the age of seven after a more than year-long battle with brain cancer.

Donations at Maria’s Field of Hope go directly to childhood cancer patient and funds research.

This year marks a decade since the field was first planted, and it will remain a permanent feature in Avon.

“We are blessed and excited to have this new permanent location for Maria’s Field of Hope that honors the lives of children lost to cancer,” said Megan McNamara, co-founder of the foundation and Maria’s mother. “It not only enables us to spread awareness of their fight but also provides a place of joy and reflection for the community. We love that.”

The Foundation has an additional location near Cedar Point.
