New Mega Millions game will cost players $5 a ticket

(WJW) — A new Mega Millions lottery game is debuting next year with a higher ticket price, but your chance to win will look a little better. A little.

According to an spokesperson for Mega Millions, the starting jackpot on the game will increase from $20 million to $50 million and continue to grow based on sales. The odds of winning the jackpot go from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million.

Every ticket will also have a built-in, randomly generated multiplier to increase non-jackpot wins with multipliers ranging from 2X to 10X, the spokesperson said.

The price for the tickets on the new game will be $5 a play. A Mega Million ticket currently costs $2 per play.

The game, set to debut sometime in 2025, promises to “bring more value and excitement to players.”
