STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — A rescued cat is now getting a chance at a loving home after being found on a local highway, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Just last month, a caller told an Ohio dispatcher: “It looks like there’s a cat that’s alive.”

With the description from a concerned driver, Ohio State Highway Patrol sent out Trooper Justin Smith of the Canton post to look for an injured cat on the side of I-77 on Aug. 21.

As seen in the video at the top of the story, Smith was able to spot the grey and white feline, which had miraculously not meandered out into the busy highway, and bring the cat to safety.

A man recently visited the Stark County Humane Society, who was taking care of the cat in the interim, and decided to give her a “fur-ever home,” OSHP said in an X post.

It was not clear how the animal got onto the highway in the first place. But we’re pleased the cat now named Lola has a new family.
