    Highway worker struck, killed in Richland County

    RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A Richland County Highway Department worker was struck by an SUV and killed Wednesday afternoon.

    The crash happened around 2:24 p.m., as crews were working along Bowman Street Road, between Myers Road and Amoy West Road, in Franklin Township.

    Security heightened in Northeast Ohio for Rosh Hashanah

    According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Trenton Gallaway, of Lucas, was standing outside a highway department vehicle when he was hit by a white Nissan Rogue trying to pass on the left.

    Gallaway was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

    Pilot flying Helene rescue missions threatened with arrest

    The Nissan was being driven by a 43-year-old Shelby woman, OSHP said.

    The fatal crash remains under investigation at this time.
