Video: North Carolina deputy charged after crashing into parked cars

NEWTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The deputy who violently crashed into vehicles at a Catawba County convenience store last month has been charged, N.C. State Highway Patrol said Thursday.

On Sept. 15, troopers say Catawba County Deputy Jarrett Isaac was traveling on Sherrills Ford Road when he swerved to avoid another vehicle, then when entering the Gold Mine Store and Grill, colliding into several parked vehicles . Video and video surveillance shows the car also narrowly missing a man.

The sheriff’s office reported that it was a domestic-related call, and the vehicle did not have lights or sirens activated.

After consulting with the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office, NCSHP reports that Isaac was charged with careless and reckless driving. Isaac was issued a citation and will appear in court at a future date.

Following the collisions, Isaac was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with minor injuries, and an occupant of one of the struck parked vehicles had minor injuries.
