    2nd arrest on arson charge in street takeover

    CLEVELAND (WJW) — Cleveland police have arrested a Barberton man charged in connection with a fire during a street takeover on Sept. 15 at West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue.

    John Alan Dietrich, 20, of Barberton, was wanted on a first-degree charge of aggravated arson. A warrant was issued late last month. Cleveland police announced the arrest on Tuesday afternoon.

    No future court dates have been set for Dietrich.

    Police previously arrested 18-year-old Gauge Michael Thomas Franklin, of Akron , who’s now being held on a $100,000 bond, also on a charge of aggravated arson.

    Franklin is due back in court on Oct. 15.

    “Street takeovers have proven dangerous for the participants, observers and non-involved citizens,” reads a previous news release from police. “Safety is the top concern and there’s an urgency to locate the suspects. The division is seeking public assistance with any information identifying those involved.”
