Guardians facing Tigers in vital Game 4 of ALDS

CLEVELAND (WJW / AP) – The Cleveland Guardians are hoping to keep their season alive with a win over the Detroit Tigers in Game 4 of their best-in-five AL Division Series.

The opening pitch at Comerica Park in Detroit will be 6:08 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Cleveland has gone 20 straight innings without scoring since opening the series with a five-run first and a two-run sixth in its 7-0 win. They’re trailing 1-2 in the series.

“We were prepared for all of it,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said after Wednesday’s loss. “We took our shots when we had the opportunity to put some runs up, placed some bets and then just didn’t come through.”

Cleveland RHP Tanner Bibee is scheduled to start Game 4 against Detroit.

The Tigers are looking to advance to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2013.

The Guardians are in the playoffs for the fifth time in eight years, but the franchise has not advanced past a division series since appearing in the 2016 World Series.
