    Residents in burning apartment building rescued from balconies

    MAPLE HEIGHTS , Ohio (WJW) – The Maple Heights fire chief said residents of an apartment building had to be rescued off several balconies as heavy fire in a downstairs unit burned.

    The fire broke out at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday in the 5300 block of Lee Road.

    Local high school closed Friday after gun incident

    Three people were transported to local hospitals because of smoke inhalation, said the chief.

    The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes, but residents of a dozen units are now displaced, said the chief.
