CLEVELAND (WJW) — It comes down to this — the Cleveland Guardians are facing off against the Detroit Tigers in Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Saturday.

The game will determine who moves on to the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees.

The Guardians got a curve ball when the team announced Friday that due to “impeding weather,” the first pitch has been moved up to 1:08 p.m. and the gates will now open at 11 a.m.

The original start time was 8:08 p.m.

However, excited fans didn’t seem to mind, and said it would just give everyone more time to celebrate a Guardians clinch.

“I don’t think it matters. This is Cleveland. Sun, rain, snow, whatever — we’re ready to handle it. Cleveland deserves it. I think we’ll be great,” said Zachary Cheney.

On East 4th Street, some businesses were scrambling to adjust their staff schedules to accommodate the expected sold-out crowd and additional fans for watch parties.

“I mean, this is a big deal. This is Game 5,” said Sean O’Donnell, general manager at Flannery’s Pub.

He said the pub located at 323 Prospect Ave. will open at 10 a.m., which is an hour-and-a-half sooner than planned.

There will be specials and a radio host, so people should arrive early because tables and seats are expected to fill fast, he said. They’re excited for it.

“It’s fine; keeps us on our toes trying to plan for your post- and pregame and then with Ohio State right after the game is over — probably, that’s gonna keep people out longer because it’s a huge game for Ohio State. So it’s gonna be a very long, fun, busy day,” said O’Donnell.

O’Donnell also suggested people take public transportation because parking will be at a premium.

Saturday’s winner will head to New York for the next round.

“Not going to say this is the year, but it definitely could be the year,” said Bee.
