First responders rescue horse stuck in Hinckley ditch

HINCKLEY , Ohio (WDTN) — It was all hands on deck to rescue a horse that had fallen into a ditch in Northeast Ohio on Thursday.

Hinckley fire and police departments quickly responded to the call when a horse was found stuck in a ditch along State Road, near a bridle trail at Cleveland Metroparks Hinckley Reservation .

Crews on scene assessed the situation and called in additional resources to help the horse.

Members of the Medina County All Hazards Team, who specialize in technical rescue, soon arrived alongside veterinarian experts and horse handlers.

Through a joint effort, the horse was successfully removed from the ditch. Officials said the process was lengthy and required everyone to problem solve in a new way.

“We would like to thank everyone involved, this is an example that there’s no such thing as an ordinary call and we have to think outside the box occasionally,” said the fire department .
