Guardians ALCS ticket prices dramatically drop

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Earlier this week, Cleveland Guardians ALCS tickets were skyrocketing, being relisted on ticket resale sites for hundreds of dollars. But now with the team in and 0-2 hole, ticket prices are plummeting.

“We’ve seen a big drop in ticket prices, especially for Thursday’s game,” Mark Klang, President of AmazingTickets.com said. “Thursday’s game prices have almost dropped in half.”

The drop in price is good news for Guardians fans looking to go to high-stakes playoff games for cheap, but it’s not a good thing for season ticket holders looking to make a quick profit.

Klang said many were trying to capitalize on the wallets of Yankees fans. But that’s no longer an option with the resale market volatility.

“Saturday’s game, the potential game 5, already the bottom has started to fall out,” he said. “Just because I think a lot of Guardians fans assume that if it happens, they’re going to be down three games to one.”

Guardians fans are also losing confidence in the team’s chances of winning as more ticket inventory is now available.

“Winning four out of five against a team that has a payroll almost three times what yours is just puts some doubt in fan’s minds,” Klang said. “And the weather certainly doesn’t help it. Some cool evenings coming up. So, I think some season ticket holders think to themselves, oh, maybe we can recoup some of our investment back.”

But as we have seen in the past, anything can happen in postseason baseball. Fans looking to root for the Guardians for a discount could score big.

“In some cases, there are some areas for tomorrow where you could get tickets for less than what season ticket holders paid,” Klang said.
