Man charged with murder in deadly shooting at Dunkin’ in Garfield Heights

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – Garfield Heights police announced Thursday the department had made an arrest in a deadly shooting that happened at a Dunkin.

Waunyae Arrington, 29, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 32-year-old Jose Ervin Jr. on October 4, 2024 .

Police say he was arrested Thursday in Columbus.

According to a press release from the Garfield Heights Police Department, first responders were called to the scene near a Dunkin’ Donuts at the intersection of Turney and McCracken Roads around 2:45 a.m. on October 4. Officers found Ervin lying unresponsive on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Arrington is currently being held on a $10 million bond in the Cuyahoga County Jail, according to Garfield Heights police.
