Woman killed in Lorain County crash

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — A North Olmsted woman was killed Friday during a crash in Lorain County .

According to a press release, the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on US Route 20, near the intersection of Quarry Road in Pittsfield Township, around 4:50 Friday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation found that Stephen Maag, 53, of Milan, was driving a 2019 Peterbilt 579 west on US Route 20, and Tammy Alam, 51, of North Olmsted, was going east on the same road.

According to police, Alam drove left of center and hit Maag’s vehicle head-on. Alam’s vehicle then went off the north side of the road and hit a snowmobile that was for sale in a yard.

Alam was pronounced dead at the scene.

US Route 20 was closed for six hours during the investigation and clean up.
