CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday announced that guard-forward Max Strus will be out for at least six weeks for a right ankle sprain.

Strus suffered the sprain during workouts on Thursday, Oct. 17, then had an X-ray and MRI, according to the release.

Managers plan to reassess Strus after six weeks of treatment and rehabilitation. The team said it plans to release more information on his status and return to activity “as appropriate.”

Strus missed the preseason finale game at the Chicago Bulls on Friday, Oct. 18. He also missed two preseason games — the Indiana Pacers at home and the Detroit Pistons away — due to a bruised right hip.

The Cavaliers start their regular season at the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
