Rosie O’Donnell speaks out after daughter charged with child neglect, drug possession

(WJW) – Rosie O’Donnell is opening up after her adoptive daughter, Chelsea O’Donnell, was arrested on drug and child neglect charges in Wisconsin.

According to court records, the 27-year-old was arrested and booked into the Marinette County Jail on Sept. 17 on felony charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect and methamphetamine possession, as well as several misdemeanor drug charges.

Chelsea was released after posting a $2,000 bond, court records show, but she was arrested again on Oct. 11 in Oconto County, facing additional felony drug and bail jumping charges.

She’s expected to appear in court in early November.

The 62-year-old comedian and television personality, who had adopted Chelsea with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, took to Instagram over the weekend, sharing an old photo of her eldest daughter.

“Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time – here is the family comment,” Rosie said in the post . “Sadly this is not new for our family – Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we (are) all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease.”

As reported by People, Rosie and Chelsea had an estranged relationship over the years, with Chelsea going missing in 2015 and turning up in Wisconsin a week later with her birth mother, but they reconnected in 2018 after the birth to her first child.
