Near record-breaking jackpot won in NE Ohio

CANTON, Ohio (WJW) – (WJW) – One lucky Ohio Lottery player in Northeast Ohio has won a near record-breaking jackpot.

The Ohio Lottery reports a Rolling Cash 5 ticket matched 5 out of 5 numbers in the Friday, Oct. 11 drawing to win $874,000.

Lottery officials previously told FOX 8 that the largest Rolling Cash 5 jackpot won was on March 7, 2024. The jackpot at the time was $850,010. Since then, the Ohio Lottery provided updated numbers that show a jackpot of $1.1 million won back in 2012. Making the $874,000 the second highest in Rolling Cash 5 history.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Nuthouse Saloon in Canton , said lottery officials.

About a month ago, the Ohio Lottery reported back-to-back winners in the daily drawing game. But, since then, a bit of a dry spell sent the jackpot skyrocketing .

The Rolling Cash 5 jackpot starts at $100,000 and grows every time there isn’t a 5 of 5 winner. The increase is based on sales or a minimum of $10,000, whichever is greater, says the Ohio Lottery.

The odds of hitting the Rolling Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 575,757. The odds may sound slim but in August, not one but five Ohio Lottery players were lucky enough to beat those odds all at the same time. Lottery rules stated the five winners had to split the winnings equally .
