Man arrested after roommate found buried in backyard

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (WJW) – A California man has been arrested and charged with murder after his roommate was found buried in their backyard.

According to a press release from the Riverside Police Department , officers responded to a home on the 8700 block of Sylvan Drive Tuesday around 7:45 p.m. after it was reported that 31-year-old Bradley Minder had not been seen in several days.

During the investigation, officers learned that Minder’s roommate, 48-year-old Richard Martinez, made statements claiming he killed his roommate.

According to the release , that is when Martinez was detained and a search of the property began.

Riverside Sheriff’s Office cadaver canines aided at the scene and alerted officers to “freshly disturbed soil” in the backyard, the release said.

According to the release , human remains were found in the backyard and were later identified as Minder.

Martinez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and is being held without bail, the release said.

According to the release , officers believe Marinez killed Minder during an altercation

The investigation into Minder’s death is ongoing.
