PERRY TWP., Pa. (WKBN) — A project to rehabilitate the Beatty School Road bridge in Perry Township is set to begin construction soon.

This rehabilitation project for the Route 4021 bridge that is over Morrison Run will include removing the upper portion of the bridge and replacing the deck, beams and barriers. In addition, there will be minor paving near the bridge and guide rail updates.

Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 28, and is expected to be completed in October 2024.

Detour routes will include Methodist Road (Route 4019), Route 358 and Fredonia Hadley Road (Route 1001).

The existing bridge was built in 1958 and is classified as in poor condition. It is currently posted to a weight limit of 32 tons or 40 tons for combination loads. Approximately 300 vehicles use the bridge per day, on average.

The project cost is $560,559, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.
