Howland soccer standout makes college choice official

HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Howland soccer standout Caleb Rose has officially committed to continue his playing career at the University of Charleston.

Rose is a four-year letter winner and has been a key contributor for the Tigers over the past four years.

Individually, he earned all-county, all-conference, all-district, and all-state honors throughout his high school career.

“It means everything to continue playing soccer at the next level in Charleston because it has always been my dream to play soccer in college,” Rose said. “I love this school as it has the qualities of my dream school and I look forward to showcasing my talent in college. I will work as hard as I possibly can to become the best I can be and I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me get to this point.”

He helped lead the Tigers to four district titles and two appearances in the state final, winning a state title in 2020.

“During his four years at Howland, Caleb was a steady force in the midfield who became a dynamic goal scorer at the end of his high school career,” Howland Head Coach Brian Stiles said. “His continuous growth as a player is a credit to his strong work ethic and desire to always want to improve. Caleb leaves behind a high school career of team success that will be difficult to ever match. He played a major role on teams that won four District Championships, three Conference Championships, two Final Fours, and one State Championship. He will always be remembered as one of the great Tiger soccer players. I’m excited to watch his career continue at the University of Charleston.”
