YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — As Youngstown State University searches for a new provost and vice president of academic affairs, YSU President Bill Johnson has recommended Jennifer Pintar for the permanent position.

Serving as interim provost since January, Pintar is one of three candidates for the role. The other two candidates are Alyson Gill, a former provost of Lees-McRae College, and Carolyn Smith Keller, the associate provost of the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

In a press release from YSU News Center, Johnson stated the university has considered 40 candidates but he believes Pintar stands out from the rest.

“I am proud to announce I am recommending to the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees, Dr. Jennifer Pintar for the position of provost at YSU. Her demonstrated leadership over the last five months as interim provost has demonstrated that she is absolutely the right person to lead our Office of Academic Affairs into an exciting dynamic future,” Johnson stated.

The board of trustees will receive Johnson’s recommendation at a meeting June 7.

Pintar has worked for YSU since 1999, where she began as an instructor in the Human Performance and Exercise Science Department before moving into administrative positions. She has a Ph.D and Master of Science in Physiology, a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
