Canfield rallies past Hubbard in district thriller

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield rallied past Hubbard 8-7 in 8 innings in the Division II Baseball District Semifinals on Monday at Bob Cene Park in Struthers.

The game was tied 6-6 after seven innings, sending it to extra innings.

Down 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Canfield’s Anthony Groner provided the game winning hit on a fly ball to left that dropped, allowing two runs to score.

Hubbard took a 7-6 lead in the top half of the inning, when a run scored on a wild pitch.

With the win, Canfield advances to face Ursuline in the Division II District Final on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Cene Park in Struthers.
