    Cardinal Mooney makes program history with tournament win

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Cardinal Mooney topped Akron Saint Vincent-Saint Mary 5-4 in girls high school lacrosse tournament action on Wednesday night.

    The victory sets a program record for most wins in a season (15), and advances the Cardinals further in the tournament than any team in program history.

    Frankie Cassese tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner for Mooney.

    Ella Szalay likewise scored 2 goals and also finished with 4 draw controls.

    Angelee Blasko added a goal and an assist. Kendell Scriber led the Cardinal defense with 5 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.

    Alyssa Ray had finished with 8 saves in goal.

    With the win, Cardinal Mooney improves to 15-3 overall on the season. The Cardinals advance to face Chagrin Falls on the road in the Regional Quarterfinals on Friday at 5 p.m.
