City-wide hydrant flushing to take place in Niles

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Niles Fire Department will be conducting annual city-wide hydrant flushing, in an effort to help maintain the water quality and evaluate the effectiveness of all hydrants serviced by The City of Niles.

The flushing program will begin on Tuesday, May 28, and is expected to last between two and three weeks, weather permitting. Three crews will be flushing hydrants in various areas each day.

When hydrant flushing is occurring in your neighborhood, residents may experience low water pressure and discoloration may appear in your water for a short amount of time.

Please run your cold water, for a short period, until the discoloration disappears.
