    Canfield softball returning to state final four

    MACEDONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield topped Medina Buckeye 3-0 in the Division II Softball Regional Final at Nordonia High School on Friday afternoon.

    Malena Toth came through for the Cardinals with a dominant performance. She finished the game with 17 strikeouts in a complete game victory. She allowed just one hit on the day.

    The Cardinals got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Leah Figueroa delivered an RBI single, giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

    Canfield later added a second run on a Medina Buckeye error in the outfield.

    Macey Kalina provided some insurance with an RBI double in the sixth inning to cap off the scoring for the Cardinals in the win.

    With the victory, Canfield improves to 25-3 on the season.

    The Cardinals advance to face Springfield Kenton Ridge in the Division II State Semifinals on Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

    Medina Buckeye’s season ends with a record of 22-7.
