SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – A mercury spill was reported in Salem Friday evening according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Friday night, the EPA received a report of potential mercury exposure on Edgewood Drive. Three houses were tested; two tested negative and one tested positive.

The mercury may have spilled from a bottle left by a previous tenant, according to the EPA.

The EPA is now cleaning the affected home and will continue working throughout the weekend and possibly into next week. They hope to clear the house for habitation soon.

There was no report of anyone being physically affected by the spill.
