South Range awaits South Webster on Thursday

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Raiders are back in the state tournament for the third time in the last four years.

Coach Jeff DeRose’s No. 2 ranked South Range softball team seeks its 29th win of the season on Thursday against South Webster from Akron.

South Webster (25-3) vs. South Range, #2 (28-3)

The winner will meet either Liberty Union or Oak Harbor, #6 in the state championship on Saturday, June 1 at 12:45 p.m.

Game Notes
The Lady Jeeps lost to Wheelersburg twice this season, however, South Webster got by the Pirates (4-3) in the Regional Final to win its first championship.

In the bottom of the 8th inning of its Regional Final, South Range got a major contribution from junior Giada Pauline – who hit a walk-off, inside-the-park homer to turn away Champion, 1-0. Jayli Wilt pitched a complete game, no-hitter, by striking out 8.

South Range’s three losses came against Louisa County (3-0), North Ridgeville (3-0), and Lakeview (11-6). Since its setback to the Bulldogs, the Raiders have won its last six games.
