COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – A change is happening at the helm of the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Governor Mike DeWine announced Friday that Pamela Vest Boratyn will take over as director when Jack Marchbanks steps down in September.

Marchbanks has been director since 2019. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Ohio University and says he wants to return to academia and focus on promoting performing arts and African American culture.

Boratyn has worked at ODOT in various capacities and has been in public service for over 30 years, including as assistant director and chief of staff. Boratryn also worked as legal counsel for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, under the transportation section, for DeWine and Betty McGomery when they held the office of attorney general.

Boratyn will start in her new position on Oct. 1. Marchbanks said he will serve as a senior policy advisor to help ensure a smooth transition, DeWine said.
