WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Trumbull County outreach center has donated free air conditioners and dehumidifiers to some Warren residents.

The Community Family Outreach Complex is in partnership with the Trumbull County Combined Health District. As one of its first initiatives, it donated a combined total of 70 air conditioners and dehumidifiers thanks to an ARP grant.

Donna Warren struggles with COPD, a lung disease that makes breathing hard — especially during the hot summers. She said air conditioning goes a long way.

“It’s a blessing to be able to get air conditioning,” Warren said. “The night-days of 90 degrees or 100 degrees, it’s a great help to be able to be comfortable and not be miserable.”

CFOC Community Liason Katherine Jones said many recipients have conditions like asthma, lupus or cancer, with many needing the hardware for health reasons. Still, they often go without it.

“It was explained that a majority of their money goes toward rent, medication and food, and this is something they have to sacrifice not being able to have,” Jones said.

Bishop David Herron is the CEO of CFOC. He said the organization aims to have a positive impact on community health.

“We have teamed up with them to put some additional services here in the community. They’re going to put up a health hub, being that we know that Trumbull County District Health Department is now in Cortland, and were going to do our best to be able to reflect some of those needs here,” Herron said.
