JobsNOW: The OG wants to build a team in Salem

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – There’s a new place coming to Salem called The OG. It’s your chance to get in on the ground floor because it’s hiring right now before it opens soon.

The walls of The OG are bright, some tables are in place and the bar is all set up. It’s a new place being put together by Scott Larrick, who envisions more of a coffee shop atmosphere than a bar.

“Music is an important thing. We want to use the music and the art that’s on the walls to create a sense of positivity and community,” Larrick said.

Construction started in December along South Broadway Avenue, the city’s widest street. The finishing touches inside are ahead.

Larrick has hired some people, but he’s ready to find more with the opening coming soon. He’s hiring for the front and back of the house, or finding people who can work both areas.

“That is really true. We are trying to build a real team atmosphere here so cross-training will be important. People will need to know how to make drinks, take orders and work the computer. Need to know how to make coffee. Might need to go in the back sometimes and make a simple sandwich or a charcuterie board or something like that as well,” Larrick said.

The OG is looking for people to run food, be strong with customer service and make drinks.

The eatery will pour wine and craft beer. It has 16 taps ready to be plugged in. It will also have retail sales of the beverages.

The OG has some cooks already but could use more.

Larrick says the intangibles would be personality and a willingness to help build a new environment.

“We very much want to build a community between the staff and the customers and facilitate, people from town coming in and meeting each other and having a nice place to be,” Larrick said.

The OG will have certain positions start working soon. It is waiting to complete required inspections before setting an opening date.
