WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Liberty woman is going back to prison after a shoplifting incident where she had a handgun.

Yazmeen Green, 24, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a second-degree felony robbery charge with a firearm specification.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O’Brien sentenced Green to 3 to 4 years at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville.

Prosecutors say Green was involved in a shoplifting incident at the Walmart store on Belmont Avenue in Liberty on Feb. 14. She reportedly took out an FNX 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun to put into a holster on the display floor and then took the holster out of the store without paying for it, according to a news release from the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors say Green ran from police, dropping her jacket and the gun during the pursuit.

Prosecutors noted that Green was on judicial release at the time of the crime for a failure to comply conviction from October 2022 in Mahoning County. They agreed to drop the carrying a concealed weapon charge, however, in exchange for her guilty plea in the robbery.
