(WKBN) — There’s no higher pinnacle in music publishing than Rolling Stone magazine. Its words can make a change in the music industry. The magazine is holding a contest to find the next big artist, and two locals are in the running.

Tyler Wilson is a singer and he’s at home in front of a crowd. His stage name is TJDUB. He writes songs that he performs. He’s also in a Rolling Stone contest to find America’s next top hitmaker.

“When I go on stage for a show, it’s just an adrenaline rush that like no other can experience,” Wilson said. “Honestly, I started this competition, it was a fun thing. You know this is going to be a fun ‘to see how far I can go.’ Never expected it to go this far. So I’m very excited. I’m very appreciative for all the supporters, all the fans out there helping me.”

TJDUB is 23. You can find his music on all streaming platforms and he performs with a band called The Heartbreak Kings.

He says music has always had a big impact on his life and that’s the main reason he wanted to start creating his own.

“When I write my music, I sit down and really think deep in my emotions, and, you know, talk about the experiences and the stuff I’ve been through. so where the listener doesn’t just, you know, listen to my music, but they can also feel because they’ve been through that,” Wilson said.

He wants to win this national contest. The winner gets $10,000 and will perform at the Future of Music Showcase in Austin Texas.

“I’ve actually made it through five rounds. We’re on the sixth round right now. I’m a quarterfinalist, this is the semifinal round, which is why I need everybody’s help,” Wilson said.

There’s also another local singer who’s made it this far. He’s Ashton Gingerich of Canfield.
