POLAND TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Commissioners hit the road Wednesday evening, taking their board meeting to Poland Township.

At the meeting, the commissioners and township administrators unveiled a new camera system and van to be used during storms.

The van will transport the camera wherever it needs to go, and the camera will find the problems whether it’s a crack or clog in a pipe.

Commissioners gave the township over $200,000 for it to address an aging stormwater management system and frequent flooding.

“Really with the area we looked to help, we looked to help small businesses and then we looked to help all the communities with their infrastructure needs,” said Mahoning County Commissioner David Ditzler.

The equipment will allow the township to find the problems and examine things much easier during storms.

“Instead of guessing and digging up all over, we send the camera in there and see if there’s roots, if there’s a crack. It helps our manpower to be able to go and just address the problem and take care of it for the citizens and get the pipes flowing in a proper direction,” said Poland Township Trustee Eric Ungaro.
