STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – A Struthers man was sentenced this week after a child in his care ingested a THC gummy.

Jamie Hall was found guilty of an amended charge of possessing criminal tools, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was originally charged with child endangering.

Hall was sentenced to one year of probation and will have to perform 100 hours of community service.

Hall was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury in June, but the county court remanded the case back to Struthers Municipal Court.

According to a police report, a 5-year-old child in Hall’s care was treated at Akron Children’s Hospital in April for an overdose after the child ingested a THC-laced gummy.

When officers questioned Hall, he told them he had the bottle of gummies out and took one of them but got distracted and forgot to put the bottle away. That’s when the child got a hold of them, the report stated.
