MESOPOTAMIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — Two bridges are set to be replaced along State Route 534 in Trumbull County.

One of the bridges spans Andrews Creek between Clark Road and Parks West Road. The other bridge is over Mill Creek just north of Sweet West Road. Both are in Mesopotamia Township.

The bridges were marked for replacement because of deficiencies in the structures.

The project is in the preliminary engineering phase, but construction is scheduled to start in fall 2026.

One lane of traffic will be maintained over the bridges except for a 45-day period when each bridge will be closed, but the closure will not happen simultaneously, according to ODOT.

The official detour route for the bridge closure located between Clark Road and Parks West Road will utilize SR 88, SR 45 and SR 87 while the official detour route for the bridge closure located just north of Sweet West Road will utilize SR 87, SR 45 and U.S. Route 322 in Ashtabula County.

ODOT said the project won’t cause any substantial impacts on the environment but those who want to comment on the effects on residents, businesses the economy or historical or cultural resources can contact Sean Carpenter at 330-786-2274 or Sean.Carpenter@dot.ohio.gov .

Comments received by Sept. 13, 2024, will be considered during project development, but all comments received will receive a reply.
