YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Giving back to the community. That’s what the first Mushroom Maiden Festival is all about.

The event is put on by a number of different organizations, The Spore Sisterhood, The Spore Sorority and Wild Ones Youngstown Area Chapter.

There was a special ribbon cutting on Friday. Organizers say there will be a number of fun activities for families.

“We have 25 vendors, plus henna tattoos and hair tinsel and just different things that are organic and holistic,” Ashley Morrow of the Mushroom Maiden Festival said. “There will be what’s called cottage food like bread and stuff that’s produced locally and local honey.”

The Mushroom Maiden Festival begins at noon and runs until four along Elm Street in Youngstown on Saturday. The groups plan to hold the festival yearly.
