CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The countdown is on to the Canfield Fair and officials are looking for an extra hand to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Organizers are hiring a handful of positions in the days leading up to opening night, including parking attendants and ushers.

Fair officials say ushers will start at $10 an hour while parking attendants will make $125 per day.

Applications are being accepted in person only. They’re looking to fill as many as 100 different positions.

“As every other employer across the country, it’s just getting a little more difficult every day,” said George Roman, Director of Concessions and Entertainment. “But for free admission, see the shows, have fun — you can go back to school, college, high school, whatever you’re doing. We like grandparents to come out and work.”

Fair officials say they prefer workers to be at least 16 years old but can make exceptions for anyone as young as 14.

“We always look for volunteers but most of those positions are filled right now. We’ll take anybody. Just tell us where you’d like to go and if we can fit you in we will do everything in our power to do that,” Roman said.

The 178th Canfield Fair kicks off Aug. 28.
