The robbery was reported just before 1 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Kenilworth Avenue SE.

The woman told police that a man wearing all black with a red face covering appeared from behind a home while she was getting out of her car. She said the man was holding his hands out in front of him, as if he had a gun, though she never saw a firearm because it was too dark. The woman said she believed the man had a gun, however, and was going to shoot her.

The unknown man told her to drop her purse, according to a police report.

The woman said she screamed and ran away as he approached her. He began chasing her, and she dropped all of her belongings at that time.

The man took her purse, which contained about $80.

Police checked the area nearby and were unable to locate the man or any evidence. They noted in their report that a water bottle and other items were scattered in the driveway where the robbery had occurred.
